NAOC to reimburse spectators for rescheduled events
Takafumi Hara, ticketing director for the Nagano Olympic organizing committee, said the decision was made because people have come from far away to watch their favorite athletes, but some events have had to be called off over bad weather for three straight days. He said spectators are asked to use their tickets for the rescheduled event if possible. ''We hope that as many people as possible use up all their tickets,'' Hara said. Should ticket holders not be able to come to the venues on the new date, they may apply for reimbursement of the ticket's face value. In addition, tickets for the men's downhill and the men's combined downhill, which have been postponed twice over bad weather, will also be valid for the women's super G on Wednesday, Hara said. Since the men's downhill and combined downhill events have now both been rescheduled for Thursday, holders of tickets for either event may watch both, Hara said. Ticket refunds in cash will be made between Feb. 23 and March 6 at official ticket agencies or by postal money order if the unused tickets are sent to the NAOC ticketing center. Eligible for refunds so far are tickets for the men's downhill, men's combined downhill, men's combined slalom, women's super G and snowboard women's giant slalom. (Kyodo News)
