Canadian snowboarder Rebagliati ejected for marijuana
IOC Director General Francois Carrard told reporters the decision was being appealed by the Canadian Olympic Association. Rebagliati won the men's giant slalom event last Sunday at the Shiga Kogen ski area in Yamanouchi, Nagano Prefecture. It is the sixth positive doping case reported by the IOC at an Olympic Winter Games. The last positive case involved an ice hockey player who was found to have used testosterone at the 1988 Calgary Olympics. Rebagliati won the first-ever Olympic gold medal for snowboarding, which is making its winter games' debut as an official medal sport in Nagano. (Kyodo News)
