Emblem of the Nagano Olympic Winter Games

Emblem The Nagano Olympics Committee (NAOC) presented the proposed emblem at the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) meeting at Lausanne, Switzerland, on December 9, 1992 and received IOC approval.

At this meeting, NAOC gave a slide presentation to explain the emblem which it commissioned Landor Associates International, Ltd. of the United States to create. "The IOC's evaluation was that this emblem was elegant, and they approved it unanimously," according to the NAOC secretariat. NAOC is seeking to have it registered as a trademark in countries where the Winter Olympic Games were held before such as Norway and Austria, and in countries like the United States and Korea, or a total of 19 countries (as well as Japan) where marketing revenues may be generated. (originally run December 9, 1992)
